Rock Faces is an outdoor event at Castle Hill Quarry, Nunney on Saturday 4 October. It is a chance to see photographs recording the history of quarrying in the Mendips, and is a special outdoor event of the Mendip Rocks! festival.
Dramatic projections of historical images of local quarries onto the quarry face will include the local Holwell and Hillier Quarries as well as many other former quarries in the Frome area. The evening will start with the call to order by Stephen Thomas blowing a Victorian blasting horn used by his great grandfather George Colman who ran both Castle Hill Quarry and then the larger Holwell Quarry just outside the village.
The event is from 6.30pm until 8.30pm. Free event - donations to the Mendip Hills Fund. Advised to bring a rug, brolly and folding chair! Hot refreshments will be available. Parking available at this former quarry now tranquil community garden.
